Year 7 Camp: making connections
For three sunny days in February, our newest students worked towards constructing relationships within their high school cohort, and practised some environmental stewardship at the Adventure Alternatives Education Centre, Woodford.
The purpose of our Year 7 Camp is to develop positive relationships towards self, peers, various environments and to have a wonderful adventure! Our 130 girls were required to physically and emotionally rely on and support each other through these team activities:
- Raft building,
- Glider possum,
- Low ropes
The girls were accompanied by their Teacher Mentors who will be beside them for the next three years, to consolidate this relationship. We were lucky to have Mrs Melissa Robinson from our Boarding School, Miss King who teaches many of the Year 7s and Mr Woodward the Year 9 LoSW.
Some of the wonderful challenges for the girls and the success of this positive program are evident in the photos below.
