Did you know that on 7 August, 1944, International Business Machines Corporation dedicated the first program-controlled calculator, known as the automatic sequence controlled calculator.

Here are some fun and exciting upcoming events! The Queensland Science Contest is a great opportunity for anyone of any year of schooling to participate in to try and win some awards and prizes. Entries close on 9 October and judging begins on 14 October. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, make sure you contact Ms Macdonald soon!

 

NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK (12 – 20 August, 2017)

From 14 – 18 August, Stuartholme will be celebrating National Science Week. The theme for this year is ‘Future Earth’ and the science ambassadors will be running some fun activities throughout the week with the help of Ms Macdonald. The activities were announced at assembly this morning (and signs have been placed around the school), so be sure to get involved as there are prizes up for grabs! Here is what we will be doing:

Don’t forget that Science Help is held every Monday Week B after school in the library (JELC1). Ms Macdonald and Mr Marshall are there to help you with your science questions. Mr Marshall also holds Chemistry tutorials in S204 at Friday lunchtime (Year 12 is Week A, Year 11 is Week B).
