The Australian Rowing Championships was held in Sydney on the final week of Term 1. Phoebe Robinson (Year 11), travelled down to compete with her UQ teammates. Alumnae Daniella Serra (2011) and Kenzi Wareham (2016) also competed with their Toowong teammates.
I’m very happy to report that the girls had some wonderful success at the Championships.
Phoebe and her UQ teammates won Gold in the U19 Women’s Four and Gold in the U19 Women’s Eight, making them National Champions in both divisions. This is an incredible achievement by Phoebe, who is one of the youngest competitors in the U19 division. Congratulations Phoebe!
The day following Nationals, Phoebe rejoined her Stuartholme teammates in Brisbane on their second day of holiday training camps – extraordinary effort Phoebe, well done.
Daniella was selected as coxswain for the Interstate Women’s Eight to race for the Queens Cup at this competition, the highest prestige in QLD rowing.
Daniella and her Toowong teammates claimed Bronze in the Interstate Women’s Eight and won Gold in the U23 Men’s Eight.
Kenzi also had some great performances with her team and despite some late illnesses placed a close 5th in the U19 Women’s Four and 4th in the Open Women’s Sprint by 0.14s! Well done Daniella and Kenzi!
