News from the Nest
It is hard to believe that we have reached the end of another year! It was a very successful year in the Boarding Community and I hope that this was your experience too, through your daughter/s.
Our motto, Be Kind, Be Inclusive, Be Involved, Be Independent and Be Your (Academic) Best was lived out this year through a myriad of interactions and relationships. One thing that I am proudest of this year is the quality of the relationships between our supervisors and the girls. My hope is that each girl has at least one supervisor she can easily relate to and share the ups and downs of her day with. I would like to thank our wonderful staff for the commitment, passion and love with which they carry out their jobs.
I would also like to thank you, our wonderful parents for making this year a happy and productive one in the House. Communication and a strong partnership between us is the essence of an excellent Boarding School and I thank you for your ongoing support, open communication and feedback. As you know, I welcome feedback as it will help us to improve and become the best girls’ Boarding School in Australia! That is the aim!
We are farewelling Miss Lizzie, Miss Cassie, Miss Geena and Miss Hudson from our community as they move into other jobs, namely nursing and teaching! Boarding supervision provides a rich ground for experience in these fields as you can imagine and we wish them all the best for their futures.
A number of Boarders are becoming day girls next year – Moira Gordon and Revelle Rolfe – and we will miss them so much upstairs but know that they will always be connected to us in a special way!
If you are coming to school to pick up, you will be greeted at the hair pin bend by a young man who will direct you to park next to Spruson. The girls will access the lift here to get their luggage down. I apologise for this inconvenience but access to the usual carpark in front of Boarding is restricted because of building works going on under the Chapel. This area is being filled in for offices.
We will be delighted to welcome everyone back on Monday 23 January.
On 23 January, please park at the flagpoles to drop off your daughter and her luggage. There will a staff member there to assist you and luggage trolleys in operation. Can you then proceed to the oval for parking as we will not be able to accommodate cars dropping off at the usual parking spot on this busy day. Thank you for your support with this.
A reminder that we are open from 8.00 am.
The Year 7s, 11s and Year 12 Boarding Captains and Mentors only are asked to arrive by 9am as they have programs that begin at 10am
Years 8, 9, 10 and 12 can arrive by 5 pm.
Please note that we are having meetings for NEW boarding families at 10am for Year 7s and at 1.30pm for all other new boarders
There is a social event on for all parents from 5.30pm that evening (23 Jan) so you are most welcome to attend this. This event is hosted by the P&F Association and is a great way to meet other parents. Drinks and a simple dinner will be provided. The night will be over by 8 pm. Whilst this event is designed for parents, we understand that you might have your other children at this event which is absolutely fine with us. An invitation is going out soon to all parents so please RSVP when you get this invite.
Wishing you and your families a happy and safe holiday period and I look forward to sharing 2017 with you. Onwards and upwards!
Andree Rice, Deputy Principal Boarding
