Message from the Principal

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Friends,

It has been an incredible two weeks with so many achievements to celebrate.

Our Year 12 Senior Production, Violent Delights was held on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 August. The performance was an incredible montage of famous Shakespeare scenes featuring female characters. Comments from those who attended all said how striking the performances were in portraying the strength of the characters.

The School was very quiet on Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 August as our Seniors sat the QCS Test. Thank you to Ms Ferris and all the staff who worked to prepare the students for this exam. I was struck by the strong, resilient approach to undertaking the exams. Both myself and the students were confident in knowing they had done the hard work and I believe they were well able to respond at their best.

On the sporting fields, Stuartholme can also feel proud. We had three netball teams in the finals at Downey Park on Saturday 27 August. Congratulations to all the girls who played, and a special congratulations to Team 13, who won their grand final in extra time by one point after coming from behind. This cliff hanger had all the Stuartholme supporters on the edge of their seats! It was wonderful to see everyone cheer with such exuberance on the final whistle!

On the same day, our rowers were giving their all at Head of the River, and it was another fantastic day with Stuartholme taking home the BSRA Percentage Cup for the second year in a row.

Our hockey team took out the 2016 Shared Premiers after a nil-all game against St Andrews on Saturday morning, outstanding effort by all players.

Last week, I travelled to our sister school, Kincoppal Rose Bay in Sydney, to present at the Sacred Heart Conference along with our Counsellor – Danielle Baker, Leader of Mission – Sarah Daff and Leader of Innovation – Michael Elliott. I was extremely proud of the staff’s professionalism and innovation in their presentation.

This week I am at the Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association (ICPA) State Conference in Alpha along with the Deputy Principal Boarding – Andree Rice and Registrar – Lyn Robinson.  As we travelled from Emerald to Longreach and the surrounding areas we have been able to meet future families and interview incoming students. We have also met with many Stuartholme Boarding families, which has been a highlight for me.

God bless and take care,

Kristen Sharpe
