From the Principal

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Friends,

I would like to start this week’s Bulletin by congratulating all the students who took part in the Interhouse Music Festival Solo Music Awards on Sunday. The winners in each section were; Lucy Lloyd-Morgan, Year 11, voice; Monique Evans, Year 11 piano; and Georgie Wilkinson, Year 12, instrumental. Our students were outstanding! Congratulations to all the students who participated, I am impressed with not only your talent and dedication to your music, but to the support and encouragement you showed each other.

On Tuesday the whole school was at the University of Queensland for our annual Interhouse Athletics Carnival – what a day! After witnessing the cross country and swimming carnivals, I am now accustomed to the incredible energy the girls bring to these events, both in the sporting arena and in the stands cheering. I was thrilled to see so many take up the 100m challenge and earn a point for their House! As I looked back at the stands, there would only have been 10 girls not participating. As always, there can only be one winner and this year it was Stuart House. As I handed over the trophy, I noticed that Stuart had not won before, at least not since 1984 when the trophy started, so well done to all the Stuart girls!

Next week, our Year 11 and 12 students begin their exam block. My advice to students during this time is to be calm, measured and purposeful during your exam preparation. Try to avoid procrastination and drama, ensuring no contagion of anxiety consequently undermining performance in exams. Wishing our Seniors the very best, knowing your hard work will pay off.

After several serious traffic incidents, the tunnel under the Chapel will no longer be accessible to cars. To access the Renard carpark, drivers need to turn around before the pool carpark entry and travel back up the driveway ramp, which is now one lane, yet two ways. Drivers need to exercise caution. Please see the updated map at the back of the Bulletin.

God bless and take care,

Kristen Sharpe
